The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce launched a new initiative in December, “Strive for Thrive,” a program to help dig Albany out of poverty, and now they’re taking their newest program to another level.

Today, Chamber representatives announced they’ve entered a five year agreement with, “Move the Mountain,” a program that also tries to help lift families out of poverty.   Meanwhile, this coming Tuesday at Albany State University, the Chamber is hosting a “Strive for Thrive” training session to prepare volunteers for the program.

The cost is $20 which includes a workbook and lunch. Meanwhile, Dr. Vaughn Gresham who wrote a book about how Tupelo, Mississippi, pulled itself out of poverty will serve as the keynote speaker.
