Neighbors on the 1200 block of 2nd Avenue awoke to a string of smash and grabs and items stolen from their cars

The thief allegedly smashed the window of a car, grabbed whatever they could, and moved on to another house on the block.  Neighbors say they had a camera and briefcase stolen.  The thief left valuable gps devices in the cars that were broken into leading police to think it was a series of "smash and grab" thefts.

The Albany Police Department says you can reduce the chances of your car being broken into by keeping all valuable items out of site and bringing them in the house.

The Albany police were able to obtain finger prints from the vehicles and are still investigating the smash and grab cases.

If you have any information your asked to call crime stoppers.
