Recently Palmyra Medical Center applied for a certificate of need to provide obstetrical services, but Phoebe Putney is trying not to make that happen.
The Albany Dougherty Hospital Authority met yesterday and one of its members made a motion for the authority to encourage Phoebe to appeal the granting of the CON to Palmyra. General Council for Phoebe Putney Health System, Tommy Chambless is confident when a final decision is made, it’ll be in favor of Phoebe Putney.
“We think that there’s a very good chance that one that the matter is thoroughly analyzed, the commissioner or the court will recognize that there are other criteria in the law in order for Palmyra to obtain the CON they requested.”
Chambless believes it will be months before the final verdict is made.
