Dougherty County Police have released the dash cam video involving suspects they say robbed two convenience stores Wednesday morning.
The video shows the officer making contact with the suspect’s vehicle at the Express Lane on Newton Road. The robbers rush in the car and smash into the officer’s vehicle in order to get away. The chase then leads down residential streets and ends with the two unknown black males running from the officer. Police believe these two latest crimes to be connected to other smash and grab burglaries. Authorities want people to be on the lookout for anyone trying to sell bulk counts of cigarettes on the street.
“We're asking for anybody with information that can be anonymous or otherwise - either call us at 430-6600 or call 436-tips the Crimestoppers tip line,” said Chief Don Cheek.
Police say anyone caught buying such cigarettes could be charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
