Brenda Greene, Deputy Director of The Southwest Georgia District Health officials say the injectable doses of the H1N1 vaccine arrived just in time for the weather change.  “The flu virus seems to thrive better in cooler climates” says Greene.

Health officials say another wave of H1N1 infections could be on the horizon and that’s why its important to get vaccinated.

Not all 2,500 doses of the injectable H1N1 vaccine will stay in Albany.  They will be shared among the 14 counties that make up the Southwest Georgia health district.

Pregnant women, people who live with and take care of children less than six months of age, and health care workers are all on a high priority list to receive the vaccine.

The health district will begin giving the injectable form of the H1N1 vaccine on Wednesday and will have extended hours Thursday.
