Albany police say a former post office employee threatened one of his supervisors with a gun Thursday afternoon.
The post office on South Slappey Blvd. was locked down for about an hour Thursday afternoon. No one was hurt, and police have the 52-year-old Martin Stratus in custody.
Police say Stratus was close to retirement and went to the post office to talk to the Post Master about retirement paper work. Police Spokesperson Phyllis Banks-Whitley says Stratus approached the two supervisors in the back parking lot. She says he had a gun, and left immediately after the threats.
Officers took Stratus into custody at his home on Dawson Rd. He is charged with aggravated assault and firearm violation. Because the incident happened on federal property, police say federal charges are pending.
