(AP) -- A Lawrenceville man has been arrested after police say he was operating a rolling meth lab in his car.
A Doraville K-9 officer stopped 30-year-old Thomas Christian Johns on I-285 Wednesday for not wearing a seatbelt. The officer noticed a strong chemical smell as she approached the car and saw about a dozen electrical plugs coming from the
cigarette outlet. Johns denied consent for a search so the officer walked her service dog around the vehicle and it sniffed out drugs. A blender and cooler were found tucked in the backseat and officers found products to make meth when they put on hazardous materials suits and searched the car. Johns was being held in the Doraville jail on charges of trafficking, manufacturing and distributing meth.
Officers say they are fortunate the meth did not ignite.
