President Mark P. Becker will head up the downtown Atlanta campus
(AP) -- Georgia State University is set to officially install President Mark P. Becker as head of the downtown Atlanta campus.
The Monday ceremony is schedule to start at 2 p.m. in the Sports Arena on the Georgia State campus. Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin are expected to attend.
Becker took the helm of the university in January when longtime President Carl Patton retired after 16 years on the campus. Before that, Becker was the executive vice president and provost at the a University of South Carolina at Columbia.
Georgia State has about 27,000 students.
