The United Way kicked off its annual fundraising campaign Thursday.
This year’s goal is $1.5 million, and Palmyra Medical Center, Procter & Gamble and Terrell Foods have already raised 20 percent. Executive Director Dwayne Mills says even though we’re all still struggling we must give when we can.
“Homeless shelters where they had to turn people away, children need to be fed, couldn’t feed as many people, disabled senior citizens can’t give as many meals on wheels so it’s all critical that we all together, collectively, live united and give back to the community,” Mills said.
The United Way fell $400 thousand dollars short of last year’s goal.
