Georgia State University has been awarded a $1.3 million grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to study how to teach parents skills to avoid child abuse and neglect.
The grant goes to the National SafeCare Training and Research Center housed at Georgia State's Center for Healthy Development. The grant will allow researchers to explore what types of coaching works best for parents.
Daniel Whitaker, director of the center and a public health professor, said the study will help researchers understand how to
turn science into effective practices for coaches working with parents.
