Background checks viewed closely

Most employers will somehow find a way to check your background upon hiring you, meaning what you’ve done in the past could be revealed possibly costing you a job.

Albany State University’s policy for background checks includes a search of at least seven years, maybe more if your job entails handling money or working in the child learning center.

At the Marine Corps Logistics Base they will go seven to ten, as many years as it takes during their investigations for their background checks.

The future for military background checks is evolving says Base Security Manager Lawrence Floyd.

“We’re going to the point right now that we’re moving to what we call E-Direct.  We’re going directly to the office of personnel management which will keep less people hands on the investigations and that will entail get us our investigation back a more quicker process,” said Floyd.
