Commissioners say the bottom line is getting a charter ready for the voters

The City Commission was talking about consolidation at Tuesday's meeting, a day after the Dougherty County Commission had the issue on their agenda.

Consolidation was also discussed at a City retreat, this past January. Commissioners Bob Langstaff and Morris Gurr agreed it was something they needed to vote on and get out to the public, but wanted to wait until after the budget was passed. Langstaff says the bottom line is getting the charter ready for the public to vote on.

Langstaff says that although there are some issues that he doesn't fully agree with, he believes the charter they drew up in 2006 is the best possible document.
