ALBANY,GA. -- New legislation surrounding the ‘Certificate of Need’ would allow more services like obstetrics and cardiac catherization here in town, but it might also put Albany’s healthcare at risk. With more options, Phoebe Putney Memorial might lose patients and therefore lose money they need to buy state-of-the-art equipment that could save your life.

If Phoebe Putney can’t afford the treatments, you might end up having to travel to Jacksonville, Florida or Atlanta, which would cost you precious time and money.

Palmyra Medical Center is embracing the changes, however, saying they support a more competitive market. Palmyra is hesitant to say whether they will expand until after they read over the final resolution.
