ALBANY,GA. -- In the United States African Americans account for more than 49 percent of the more than one million diagnosed AIDS cases. In honor of National Black H.I.V. AIDS awareness day, physicians and students were getting tested. Health experts say that blacks make up almost 66 percent of H.I.V. cases in Georgia and that most people don’t get tested because they’re afraid. Motivational speaker Kathy Robinson-Pickett who is infected with H.I.V. spoke to students at Albany State University about the importance of being tested. The national Center for Disease Control spends more than half of its domestic H.I.V. prevention funds in black communities, which is over 300 million dollars.
