The Special Olympics of Dougherty County celebrated its 12th annual Winter Olympic Games at Albany State University.

Nearly 600 athletes participated in this year’s games.  The athletes competed in basketball skills competitions, bowling, and a basketball tournament.  After these games, it’s off to Atlanta where nearly 10,000 athletes will compete in the state games.

Athlete, Phillip Ford has high expectations.

“Last year we came in second, but this year we’re coming in first because I’m getting tired of coming in second place all the time,” said Ford.
