A local pastor has been searching for his biological family for most of his life, and this weekend he finally found them.

Albany Christian Church Pastor Buddy Harris was adopted and has been looking for his birth family for the past 25 years. His adoptive mother told him he had two sisters, but turns out, Harris has three sisters. They found each other two weeks ago after Harris, an only child growing up, enlisted the help of an online locator.

Harris’ biological mother died in 2001 and until two weeks ago, Harris’ three sisters had no idea he existed. His two older sisters, Barbara Womak and Linda Kemp, traveled to Albany this weekend and met their brother for the first time on Saturday. The youngest sister couldn’t make the trip.

“It’s like, ‘Am I dreaming?’ It’s like one of those things, you look so long and you have the answer and it’s like I can’t believe it. You still think you should be reaching for it,” Harris said.

The newfound family plans to stay in touch.
