A former pizza delivery man who was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs when he was involved in a fatal car crash will serve 8 years in prison.

23-year-old Ian Andrew Nichols of Macon was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.  Nichols was involved in a head-on collision May 17, 2008, that killed 21-year-old Brittney Higdon, also of Macon.  A Bibb County prosecutor said Nichols tested positive for marijuana and his blood alcohol content was .0122.  In Georgia, the legal limit is .08.

Nichols must also serve seven years on probation when he completes his prison term.
