ALBANY,GA. -- The ‘Safe Georgia’ organization spoke with women at Darton College Wednesday about general personal security measures, including how to protect yourself against an attacker. Jessica Jones with Safe Georgia spoke about her incident when she was in a dark parking lot and three men surrounded her as she went to pay the parking meter. She says if you are not trained to fight, pepper spray is better than having a gun.
If you do not have pepper spray, Dr. Ren Halverson instructed women how to hit a man in neurologically sensitive areas: the eyes, the throat and the groin. Most women are easy targets because growing up, they were told not to fight.
Experts also gave tips on how to protect your house against burglaries and natural disasters, advising to get strong locks for the doors and reinforcing walk-in closets with quarter inch plywood for tornado season.
