ALBANY, GA --
The City of Albany Board of Commissioners met for a special called meeting this morning to discuss funding of the Flint Riverquarium.

The board had been discussing these funding issues for the last several months and voted Tuesday morning to fund the Riverquarium with a vote of 5-2.

Riverquarium officials had been pleading their case, stating that without city funding the facility will go bankrupt and close quickly after the start of 2013.

The facility was granted $150,000 dollars over the next 3 months and will be looking for outside investors to relieve the financial burden on both them and the city.
