ALBANY, GA. --

The Albany Downtown Merchant Association has chosen a business with global flair as their “Merchant of the Quarter.”

Global Essence is being recognized for its storefront displays, quality service and leadership.

The store carries items from around the globe. Jewelry, furniture, raw shea butter and personal hygiene products are sold in the business.

The store has only been open for a little over a year but it’s already made an impact in the downtown area.

The owner talked about why he chose the downtown area to start the business.

“I like to separate myself from the sprawl that sometimes goes on in the mall or other shopping centers. This sets me apart as a distinct location, which I prefer,” said Patrick Jenkins.

Global Essence is located on 111 S. Jackson Street.
