AMERICUS, GA --
As part of the annual summit held by the Rosalynn Carter Institute at Georgia Southwestern University, representatives, Yun-Jung Kim, Ph. D. and Kyungjin Cho, Ph. D.,  from the RCI based in South Korea came to discuss the issue of caregiving for the elderly.

RCI Executive Director Leisa Eason says South Korea is seeing the same problems as the United States when it comes to elderly care. As population grows older, there are fewer caregivers.

Wednesday, officials discussed programs that will help in that respect. Cho's discussed the trend of foreign brides from Southeast Asia seeking marriage to Korean men and how this causes caregiving issues.  Kim's presentation touched on that of Cho's but added that a number of challenges within the marriages result in low family incomes, little support and a language barrier.

The RCI in South Korea was formed in 2010.
