New Orleans Shrimp Gumbo Your Way

Ingredients
3 - 51-70 ct Peeled &Deveined lg Shrimp
2 - Large bags of Seasoned blend(pre chopped onions ,peppers,etc)
1 - 16oz bag of cut okra
2 - Large can of chicken broth
2 - Tablespoons of Gumbo File Seasoning
2 - Tablespoons of Mrs Dash
1 - Teaspoon of basil
1 - Teaspoon of garlic,fresh or powder
2 - Teaspoon of soy sauce
1 - Teaspoon black pepper
1 - Quart of water
1 - Whole baked chicken,deboned &chop up meat (substitute for shrimp if you have allergies)
1 - Large can of diced tomatoes
1/2 - Cup of all purpose flour
1/2 - Cup of vegetable oil
2 - Packages or 2 ropes of Androuille(cajun sausage)or your favorite smoked sausage
1 - Large bell pepper, diced
1 - Large onion ,diced (fresh gives more flavor to broth)
1 - Large box of long grain rice or your favorite rice product
1 - Large stock pot
Directions
Chop & sautee all vegetables in well oiled skillet until tender. Remove, set aside in bowl. Place sliced smoked sausage in for quick sautee to release flavors. Place sausage in bowl; set aside. In large stock pot pour water, 1 can of chicken broth bring to a boil. It is time for the essence of gumbo, the roux. In a skillet, pour vegetable oil in slowly heat on med. Add flour stir until combined. Turn heat up but do not leave skillet; stir until flour mixture begins to get slightly smoky & changes to resemble chocolate; carefully remove from heat. Slowly place in boiling broth to thicken. To sautee okra, deslime it and place in broth mixture. Now is time to dump sauteed vegetables & sausage in broth also. Fill liquid in pot according to your family servings. Place shrimp in last. Prepare rice according to pkg instructions. Subsitute 1 can chicken broth for 1 cup of water. Simmer for 30 min, serve with cornbread or your favorite roll, enjoy!
