The Paleo Diet is a lifestyle that goes back to the days of the caveman and the time before agriculture

The main focus is to eat nutritious whole foods like lean meats, fish, fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds.  Avoid processed foods, especially grains.

Grains mess with your body’s glycemic index which causes it to store more body fat.  Your body will react to gains as they would raw sugar.  But you don’t want to avoid all carbs.  Fruits and vegetables contain good carbs that your body will digest easily and use efficiently. White potatoes and rice are carbs that contain empty calories.  They will give your body a quick energy spike followed by a crash.

By eating leaner, it will be much harder to overeat which will help to avoid consuming extra calories.

Check the nutrition label while shopping.  If there are a lot of additives on the label, pick something else.

But eating Paleo doesn’t have to be bland.  Seasonings and spices can be pre-agriculture.  Just avoid sauces which are processed.  And you can still go out to eat, just order a plain lead meat and substitute sides for vegetables without sauce.

The Paleo Diet is basically cutting out all the stuff our bodies don’t need and taking in more of the stuff it does need.

Paleo Diet:

·         Eat a variety of lean meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, eggs and healthy fats

·         Don’t eat added sugars

·         Don’t eat grains of legumes

·         Don’t eat processed vegetables oils

·         Don’t eat factory-processed foods

·         Only eat dairy if it is from grass-fed animals

In about two weeks you should find yourself feeling better, more energized, sleeping better at night, and waking up refreshed.  You will avoid those afternoon slumps.
