ALBANY,GA --
In the Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know how many police dogs are utilized by local law enforcement.

The Albany Police Department have one dog in their canine unit who is used for locating explosives and firearms material.

The Dougherty County Police Department has two dogs, but instead of sniffing out bombs, they're used for sniffing out people.

“We've got some pretty vast expanses of woods  and very, very remote areas and with Alzheimer’s patients and small children  that wander off, but we also use them for search and follow and crime scenes,” says Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office also has two dogs, used only for detecting drugs.
