ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County School System Transportation Committee met on Monday afternoon to receive an update on any changes in the department over the past year from transportation director Kenneth Williams.

Williams says the biggest change is the upgrade the transportation department is asking for buses to receive on their video cameras from an older, less reliable model to new and improved system.

Currently, 1/3 of the cameras on the buses aren't working because they're  outdated, but Williams says the upgrade would allow them to ensure there are 4 working cameras on each bus which would mean less fights and bullying happening.

The upgrade would cost around $171,000 and would be taken from SPLOST funds to add the new software to 150 buses.

School Board member Lane Price plans to take the proposal to the full board for a vote later this month.
