Officials confirm that they received an anonymous call about a threat made to an unknown school.

TIFT COUNTY, GA --

Second Update (11:50 AM)
Officials say the bomb threat call was phoned in around 9 AM Thursday morning.

Since then, the schools have been cleared and no bombs have been found.

Police say that a person of interest has been placed into custody after tracking the call was made from a cell phone.

Parents can continue to pick up their children but schools will be closed for the remainder of the day. Some Tift County Schools are letting students that did not get picked up return inside.

The following is the list of evacuation sites for Tift County Schools:

Charles Spencer - Tift County Bus Shop

Northside & Horizons Academy - Corner of Davis & 16th Street at the Resurrection Assembly of God Church

TCHS - The lower practice field at TCHS

G.O. Bailey - Nursing home across the street

Northeast Campus - Northside Baptist Church

J.T. Reddick - Neighborhood Service Center on Central Ave.

Matt Wilson - Fire Dept. practice station across the street

Annie Belle Clark - Ag Bldg on Carpenter Road

Eighth Street & Sixth St. Academy - Eve Park (Rec. dept.)

Omega - Omega Baptist Church

PreK - First Methodist Church gym

Len Lastinger - In the neighborhood behind the school near the Peanut Commission (Cul-de-sac on Alabama Drive)
 


ORIGINAL STORY:

Officials confirm that they received an anonymous call about a threat made to an unknown school.

The Board of Education was notified and promptly evacuated all schools of students and faculty.

Parents can call the EMA at the mobile command at 229-388-6062 to get their students.

Tift County Public Schools has issued this statement:

Tift County Public Schools are currently under a system wide bomb threat. Students and staff at all schools have been evacuated to their designated evacuation sites. Parents will be permitted to check students out at each school's evacuation site. A listing of the evacuation sites for each school will be posted on our system web site at www.tiftschools.com and on the Facebook page for each school.
