SYLVESTER, GA --
Worth County High School held a pinning ceremony for 9th graders Friday morning.

This is the first pinning ceremony the school has had, but school officials hope to make it a yearly tradition.

During the ceremony, the principal, Dr. Russ Chesser, talked to students about how important it is to graduate from high school and attend college. He said in the past five years, about 150  students have dropped out and not graduated.

He encouraged students to come up to the stage, shake the hands of local leaders, and then share with them what their goals and dreams are.

School officials hope that by showing students all of the people in the community that support them, it will help motivate them to do well in school and go on to achieve their goals.
