ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County School Board has announced Dr. David C. Mosely, will be the interim superintendent.

Dr. Mosely brings 36 years of experience to the school system, which has school board members excited.

"We need to get this school system going in the upward direction, and I feel that Dr. Mosely is an ideal candidate to do exactly that," said school board member, Dr. Lane Price.

Dr. Mosely will be replacing former superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree, who parted ways with the school system in December.

Mosely says he's looking forward to the task at hand, "I am excited; I wanted to try this opportunity, and I do consider it an opportunity. I know that if the board and I can work together, along with the leadership staff, we can really come in and make a difference."

One of the first issues Dr. Mosely plans to attack is the problems with the Georgia Department of Education. 

He won't start immediately because his contract still needs to be finalized before he can take the reigns of the schools system.

Along with announcing the interim superintendent, the board also decided to appoint Carol Tharin, as the new school board chairperson.

"I’m very humbled that the board members saw fit to put me in that position, I never expected that, or sought that position," said Tharin.

Tharin will take over as Dougherty county school chairperson immediately; she says she's looking forward to bringing the board closer together.
