ALBANY, GA -- Albany community leaders were invited to Albany Technical College on Wednesday as part of the college's Achieving the Dream Initiative. School officials asked the community for their input on how to close the achievement gaps and increase student retention and graduation rates. Albany Tech is one of 26 institutions participating in the Achieving the Dream National Reform Network that is aimed at increasing student success in higher education. During the luncheon, school officials asked the public to provide input on how they believe a higher graduation rate can be achieved. Albany Tech president Dr. Anthony Parker says being in the building with the students sometimes doesn't allow teachers to see what needs to be changed or adapted for the working world, so getting input from those who can answer what changes need to be made is vital for furthering student success.
