The Support Services Bureau has received several calls this morning from citizens in the Northwest Albany area stating that individuals are knocking on their doors asking for gas money or some sort of assistance for a family member.  / File

The Support Services Bureau has received several calls this morning from citizens in the Northwest Albany area stating that individuals are knocking on their doors asking for gas money or some sort of assistance for a family member.

This is a scam so do not open your door or your wallets to strangers.

Citizens should be alert when being approached in parking lots by individuals asking for money also. Please report any and all suspicious people to the Albany Police Department immediately by calling (229) 431-2132.
