ALBANY, GA -- One event is quickly becoming an Albany staple and held its 2nd annual gathering today.

More than 400 participants flooded the civic center today to attend, "Empty Bowls," an event that brings together local restaurants and the community.

Officials say more than 400 hand-spun pottery bowls were sold, serving as a ticket to free food and entertainment.

The main purpose of the event is to bring awareness to hunger throughout the world, however event planners say it's also a great opportunity for local restaurant owners to show off.

With the event doubling in size this year, organizers say their excited to see "Empty Bowls" continue in the future.
