ALBANY, GA -- According to statistics released by the American Cancer Society, deaths by cancer have decreased by an average of 20% overall.

Phoebe oncologists say that the reason for decline in death is due to advances in cancer screening, treatments, and cancer prevention has led to the mortality rate decline.

Notable drops in cancer deaths include a 40% drop from prostate cancer along with a 30% drop from breast cancer since 1991.
