DAWSON, GA -- Dawson officials came together Friday afternoon to welcome the city's youngest mayor ever into office.
Christopher Wright, 22, is also one of the youngest mayors in the state of Georgia.
People came from all across the country to take part in his inauguration ceremony. Kenneth Cutts was also attendance to represent Congressman Sanford Bishop's office.
Chris Wright beat out longstanding Mayor Robert Albritten in the November election.
Many of Wright’s supporters are hoping he's able to steer the city into a more prosperous future. Now that he's officially in office, Wright says it's time to move forward with his platform.
“The next step is getting in office, developing a relationship with the personnel in city hall, city managers and elected officials,” said Christopher Wright. “We got to get together to get on the same page and work towards a common call and that's achieving goals that have been set on my platform and I stand firm behind that.”
Wright says his goal is to bring more industry to the area to help change the image of Dawson.
He says the city can't make a complete turnaround without unity among residents and city leaders.
