ASU Foundation elects new board members

When the Albany State University Foundation convenes for its bi-annual meeting on Dec. 7, five new members will begin their first terms.

The new members are clergymen, corporate executives and lawmakers from the Southwest Georgia community.

“We are very pleased with the appointment of the new board members. They represent the best in our community and have evidenced their support of Albany State University through their service on the foundation board,” said ASU Vice President for Institutional Advancement Clifford Porter Jr.

The new members are:

Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons is senior pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Albany. The ASU Alumnus also serves on the Board of Directors at Sun Trust Bank and is the recipient of numerous awards including the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.

James Griffin, is a licensed funeral director and owner of Poteat Funeral Home.  He is a member of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association.

Titus Lee Davis Jr, is Tissue Business Leader for Procter and Gamble. He has been employed with the company over 20 years. 

Joycia Ricks is a retired attorney and ASU alumna. She became president of the Albany State University National Alumni Association in June 2012.   

Graham Edwards is Dealer Principal, at Albany Honda and former market area specialist with the Ford Motor Company. He has more than 20 years of automotive experience; and his family has worked in the automotive industry since the 1920's.

ASU foundation members are elected by the board members and serve three year terms.
