ATLANTA, GA --
The Governor’s Office of Workforce Development (GOWD) and the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) are reaching out to former Hostess Brands Inc. employees who have been affected by the recent closing. The two agencies provide an abundance of resources including unemployment insurance, job training, and assistance through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

Georgia has approximately 558 citizens affected by the Hostess Brands, Inc closing.

Job seekers are encouraged to visit their local Georgia Department of Labor Career Center for information on 

“Utilizing the resources available through the state of Georgia, affected employees have the opportunities to rejoin Georgia’s workforce,” said Mark Butler, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Labor.

GOWD’s website www.workforce.georgia.gov also hosts resources related to Local Workforce Investment Areas and Boards.

For affected veterans, GOWD recently launched Operation:Workforce at www.operationworkforce.com. This web portal offers a variety of services specifically geared to assist military personnel on the home front. Veterans can sign up and create a profile detailing their military training, education, and experience allowing potential employers to find those individuals best suited for their job openings. Veterans can also browse a list of jobs posted by Georgia employers.  Users can enter their zip code, city, or select their county to view a map highlighting the location of all the employment and veteran services in the area.
