ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County Board of Commissioners met Monday to discuss several issues including the goals and salary of interim police chief, Jackie Battle.

The commission chose to grant Battle a salary of $76,000 for her 6-months in the interim position, and will re-evaluate that number should Battle be hired in 6-months as full-time Chief of the Dougherty County Police Department.

The commission also touched on the possibility of selling a triangle of land on North Jefferson Street at Philema Road. The Georgia Department of Transportation is looking to purchase the land and redesign the on-off-ramps for the Liberty Expressway.

The offer from GDOT stands at $33,200 and several commissioners stated that that particular area is one of the most dangerous areas in Dougherty County.
