ALBANY, GA. --

All across the nation ceremonies were held to honor those who served our country.

In Albany, residents at the 'Century Pines Retirement Center' joined in the festivities.

Veterans Day service was put on for those in the retirement community who risked their lives.

Several Century Pines residents served in various wars, including World War II and the Korean War.

A 95-year-old World War II veteran talked about why he got emotional during service.

“It means a great deal to me because it brings back lots of memories that happened during that period of time,” said U.S. Army 1st Sergeant Jonah Terry, “It was some tough years that I spent fighting freedom for the people. It wasn't easy, but I made it.”

War survivors, their widows and other family members attended the ceremony.
