ALBANY,GA --
The Long-Term Financial Planning Committee is sending a recommendation to the city of Albany that they deny WG&L's request for $750,000 to begin tearing down the manufactured gas plant.

The Committee, made up of three city commissioners and two Water, Gas and Light board members voted three to two to deny the request.

City Commissioner Bob Langstaff suggests WG&L board members meet and discuss ways to come up with the money on their own before the committee is to meet again September fourth.

City officials say they believe WG&L has $6.8 million in reserves.
