New dean an advocate for tech education

Mattie Buchannon is the new Dean of Health Care Technology at Albany Technical College

ALBANY,GA --
Albany Technical College announces their new Dean of Health Care Technology.

Mattie Buchannon will take over July first.

She has more than 20 years experience as both a faculty member and program chair for the Practical Nursing program at Albany Tech.

Buchannon received a master's in nursing from Albany State University and was named Albany Tech's 2005 Rick Perkins Teacher of the Year

She says her goal is to continue to support the vision of workforce development and continue to advocate for technical education.

Buchannon replaces longtime Dean Dr. Dorothy Garner, who served in the position for 32 years and who is set to retire at the end of June.
