ALBANY, GA --
The city commission recently voted to move forward with plans for a new multi-modal transportation center.

The center would accommodate rail and have room for retail shops and concessions.

However, the current bus station owner has filed litigation against the city, saying the new center would take away its tenants, namely Greyhound.

Commissioner Chris Pike represents ward three and says his constituents are not in favor of the new $10 million facility, since it may be obsolete once a new one is built.

“So when you take out the bus station, how does that negatively impact that area, where there's really no potential for any other development after you move the bus station out,” says Pike.

If the case is held up in court, there's a chance all the stimulus funds and grants from the Federal Transit Authority that are going to pay for the facility may not be available.
