ALBANY, GA. -- Local law enforcement officials are making sure the hungry in Albany have something to be thankful for.

The Albany Police Department's Family Protection Unit provided a feast for those in need.

Hundreds showed up for the full course meal at the Bill Miller Community Center.

Policemen and women who attended say it's a blessing to be able to give back to the southwest Georgia community.

“This is the first year that the Albany Police Department Family Protection Unit is providing Thanksgiving dinner but we look forward to collaborating with those in the community in the near future,” said APD Family Protection Unit Corporal Bryant Leverett.

The event was free and open to the public.

Officials say they plan to hold the event again next Thanksgiving.
