ALBANY, GA -- Dougherty County officials talked about changes to the plan of widening Old Dawson Road to four lanes at their commission meeting Monday.

Some are saying four lanes is just too much for that stretch of road between Pointe North Boulevard and Byron Plantation Road.

Commissioners, like Lamar Hudgins, say three lanes should be enough.

“They have a lot of traffic, no doubt, but four-laning would just take out a lot of property. Many times areas go commercial when you four-lane. The curb would be very close to many people's front yard,” says Hudgins.

The project will be paid for under the Transportation Improvement Act, or T-SPLOST which could be put on the ballot for voter's approval next year.
