LEESBURG, GA. -- Lee County officials have decided to go forward in helping a local business update its water system. They’re hoping this measure prevents job loss.

Woodgrain Millwork, a manufacturing company in Leesburg, Ga., approached the board for assistance.

The Lee County Utilities Authority and county commission are both on board to keep the business afloat.

They say helping the company get past this stage is essential to the Lee County economy.

“Because jobs are so important, especially right now, if they have to do the repairs on their own, it's going to be a lot of money and it could cause the system to shut down,” said Lee County Utilities Authority General Manager Chris Boswell.

The company now uses a well system. Boswell says there may be grants available to help the company tie on to the utilities authority.
