ALBANY, GA -- The national quail conservation organization Quail Unlimited announced it was moving its national headquarters from South Carolina to Albany last October.

On Tuesday, the organization held it’s ribbon cutting ceremony at their new facility.

“To have QU located right here front and center on third is absolutely ideal,” says Catherine Glover with the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce. “Albany touts itself as being the quail hunting capital of the world, so to have QU's headquarters right here in Albany is truly a blessing for us.”

Quail Unlimited President Bill Bowles says it’s good to bring Quail Unlimited home.

The new Quail Unlimited location isn’t just beneficial to the company; it’s also beneficial to the city’s economy. Hundreds gathered in January for the 25th annual Quail Unlimited Celebrity Hunt in Albany, bringing business to the local economy.

“Of course it's a big boom for our area. Folks will be staying in hotels, they'll be using the civic center, restaurants, shopping… it is a great weekend for the city of Albany,” says Glover.

Bowles says the city can expect a bigger crowd at the next celebrity quail hunt.

“The hunt this year is going to be larger than I think anybody's ever seen in Albany,” says Bowles. “Celebrities are actually calling us, they're extending the invitation to other celebrities.”

Quail Unlimited is even planning on renting local facilities during the hunt.

“Last year we were at Darton College which was absolutely wonderful, and this year we're back at the civic center which is the largest venue we have in Albany,” he says.

After Tuesday’s ribbon cutting, Quail Unlimited served as the spotlighted business for the Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours event.
