Operation Zero Tolerance is in effect; officers will immediately arrest those with blood alcohol levels over .08

ALBANY, GA -- Law enforcement officials say there were 24 alcohol-related deaths in 2008 at Christmas, so this year, Operation Zero Tolerance is keeping a close eye on the roads for people who are drinking and driving.

Officers say the blood alcohol level is .08, and if you are over that level, you will be spending the holiday in jail.

“That zero tolerance means we won’t give you a warning, we won’t take you home, we won’t call someone to come get you; you will go with an officer to jail and you will be arrested for it,” says Lt. Tom Jackson with the Dougherty County Police Department.

Police say they aren’t just looking for drunk drivers, but also those who are speeding, not wearing a seatbelt along with other law enforcement policies.
