Winter clothing is biggest holiday seller

ALBANY, GA -- A few stores were truly black on this Black Friday.

The Salvation Army’s thrift store and similar discounters were closed because their prices are already so low they simply can’t be discounted.

But millions of shoppers will take advantage of thrift store bargains during the holidays.

Officials with the Albany chapter of the Salvation Army says their biggest seller this time of year is winter clothing.

"Sometimes, they can buy the clothes and save up the Christmas presents for the rest of the family by being able to pick up some clothes at some discount prices here," said Capt. Douglas McClure of the Salvation Army.

Other big holiday sellers for thrift stores include baby products like strollers and furniture.
