Fox 31 sits down with local women to discuss ethics of birth control

ALBANY, GA -- When does life begin? This is a question that has many different opinions that will never be completely agreed upon.

These beliefs have caused some to think twice about the form of birth control they use.

Fox 31 spoke with a group of ladies about how they felt ethically toward contraceptives.

All of the women agreed birth control is a personal choice and it depends on the situation but one lady felt hormonal birth control compromised her integrity.

“I’m a practicing Catholic, my husband and I are very devout and if we are to live our life with integrity that means following the doctrines of our church.” She described her personal journey and told us why she felt personally against using hormonal birth control, “I started seeing the actual way birth control worked and it could be potentially abortifacient and that is completely opposed to my faith.”

Many of the women we talked to said they had never heard this view before. Dr. Inman of The Veranda says he doesn’t typically have women ask him about the ethics of birth control. “We try to inform them about choices, give them handouts and information, then let them make their own decision” said Dr. Inman.

One thing everyone did agree on was the importance of talking with a doctor and researching how the different birth controls work.
