ALBANY, GA --
Several Dougherty County schools went under lockdown Friday afternoon after shots were fired in the area.

Officials with Dougherty County School Police say Monroe High School, Southside Middle, and the Exceptional students program building located in the 700 block of Corn Avenue was placed on code red around 12:45 PM today.

The lockdown lasted for about 20 minutes until police were done searching the area.

Officials say the lockdown was lifted after they found there was no threat to either of the schools.
