West Town Elementary School held its annual AYP/Veteran’s Day celebration ceremony today
Senator Freddie Powell-Sims spoke to students about the importance of preparing for tests and honored more than 50 students for achieving high scores on the standardized AYP tests.
Senator Powell-Sims says it’s important to celebrate the student’s achievement to give honor and help inspire the other students. “There are a lot of skills to be learned and to take those skills and transfer them when it’s time to take tests is an awesome task” says Powell-Sims.
Students also learned the meaning of Veteran’s Day and saw a special power point presentation of their relatives in the armed forces.
