Members of the Albany State University Enactus (formally known as SIFE) team are working to help fight hunger by participating in the 2012-2013 Let’ s Can Hunger initiative, sponsored by Campbell Soup Company.
Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger is a competition that mobilizes Enactus teams in the United States to measure and demonstrate a comprehensive approach to addressing hunger. Teams will organize and execute food drives for urgent hunger relief and empower those in need to defeat the cycle of hunger.
“Considering Feeding America estimates that 1 in 6 people in America do not know where their next meal will come from,” said Khadijah Nuriddin, ASU Enactus Team Executive Assistant, “coupled with our current economic climate, it’s more important than ever to lend a helping hand to our neighbors, as well as empower food insecure populations to defeat the cycle of hunger.”
Entries submitted for the Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger initiative will be evaluated by a panel of representatives from Campbell Soup Company. Teams have a chance to win finalist and grand prizes for their excellent work.
“One platform in our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is a commitment to reduce childhood obesity and hunger. We recognize that we cannot fight hunger by ourselves, and are thrilled that Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger has helped Enactus make a difference in these communities,” said Denise Morrison, President and CEO, Campbell Soup Company. “Enactus teams have collectively raised more than 4.3 million pounds of food for food banks since the program’s inception, and I am personally excited that we have leveraged our partnership and passion to make it happen.”
